February 2015 President’s Broadcast

Hello Trakkers!

The deep snow base and cold cold cold continues — and we are having a fantastic season with two full buses on most trips. Unless we get a serious warm spell we’ll be skiing right through late March! Due to ongoing demand, the club will also continue to provide a few beginner classic and beginner skating lessons through March.

Help! — Someone Has Taken the Wrong Skis

There was a ski bag mix-up last Sunday, February 22 when we went to Scenic Caves. If you have a black ski bag please check it to make sure you have your own skis. Someone took a black ski bag by mistake, leaving one of our members with a pair of skis which aren’t theirs! (You can imagine the heartbreak.)

If you took the wrong ski bag by mistake, please get in touch with us at info@trakkers.ca.

Say Cheese!

Wine and Cheese
The club had our annual wine-and cheese social at Scenic Caves on February 22. We were blessed with slightly warmer temperatures and a full turnout, including many guests. Members also gathered for the annual club photo:

Notice of Annual General Meeting (AGM)

All members are invited to the AGM on Friday, March 27, 2015:

Swansea Town Hall, Rousseau Room
95 Lavinia Avenue
7:00 – 7:30 p.m.
(Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for pre-AGM mingling)

Operational and financial reports for the 2014-15 ski season will be presented and directors for the 2015-16 Board of Directors will be elected at this meeting.

Nominations are open for positions on the 2015-2016 Board of Directors. Please note that the person being nominated must expressly consent to the nomination. Voting may be in person at the AGM or by proxy. Being on the board requires participation in monthly board governance meetings from September through April, and approximately 2-3 hours of volunteer time each week during the ski season.

All notice materials for the AGM are available in the members-only area of the web site. Simply log in to your account and click on the “Club Operations” link on the left-hand navigation bar. Links to the AGM materials are also included below:

Members are also invited to submit any questions that they may have about the club’s 2014-15 operations to the board’s executive prior to the AGM. Questions may be submitted to info@trakkers.ca.

Meet Our New Ski Instructors!

Trakkers “Roving Reporting” (aka the club pres) recently sat down with John Van Nostrand and Hilary Linton, to get their take on becoming new CANSI-certified instructors to teach with the club. See the article here.

We’d also like to extend a big thanks to all of our ski instructors and assistant instructors for this season:

And Finally, a Few Lost and Found Items …

We’ve had a fair accumulation of lost and found items this season — current items include: black MEC gloves, size small; a navy toque with a “MTW” logo; and, a pair of silver keys, on a pink string, which were left on the shelf near the bus captains, right at the front of the bus.

If any of these items are yours, please email info@trakkers.ca. If no one has claimed them by the end of March they get donated!
